SearchLocal adds Ocean County businesses all the time, and this round leans toward the shore. Four are places to eat, and two are shops on Long Beach Island, one selling seafood and one selling antiques and folk art.
Below is a short look at each one, based on what the business says on its own website. Nothing here is a ranking, and we haven't visited or reviewed any of them.
Chef Justin's Sunset Keys, Lavallette
This restaurant is at 607 Bay Boulevard in Lavallette. Its website describes a menu of grilled catch of the day, with the fish delivered fresh daily, and a section of chops, steaks and coastal-style surf and turf. Meatballs also get their own spot on the menu.
The restaurant is BYOB, so you bring your own wine, and the website says brunch is served daily, with guests bringing their own sparkling wine for mimosas. It recommends reservations through Resy. The directory also lists pick-up and delivery. Call (732) 820-6800 to confirm days and times before you go.
The Seawife, Barnegat Light
The Seawife is a shop at Viking Village, 1901 Bayview Avenue. Its website says it sells antique and vintage decor, including handcrafted American folk art, nautical salvage, reinvented pieces and quilts made before 1930.
The grounds matter here too. The website mentions birdhouses, iron gates, urns and antique garden furniture outdoors, and says the property includes the 1896 Fenimore School House and the 1800s Bull Run Barn. No hours are listed in the directory, so call (609) 361-8039 before making the trip.
Blue Claw Seafood Market, Surf City
Blue Claw is a retail seafood shop at 1103 Long Beach Boulevard. The directory lists fresh fish, shrimp, scallops, clams, live or cooked crabs, and homemade chowder, crab cakes and salads.
Its website says live lobsters come from a tank in two stated size ranges, about 1¼ to 1½ pounds and 2 to 2½ pounds, with larger sizes on request by phone. It also says the shop makes its own Key Lime Pie, sold only there, and that pies can be ordered in advance. The phone number is (609) 361-0050.
Tuckers Tavern, Beach Haven
Tuckers Tavern is at 101 South West Avenue. Its website calls the menu an "American coastal gastro-pub menu" and mentions a raw bar and an ever-changing selection of craft beers. The dish lists are in PDF menus on the site.
The website says the Tavern Dining room seats 110 or more, and the covered outside deck, which it says has bay views, seats 45. The directory also lists takeout, gift cards and private parties. Published hours are Monday to Thursday 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Call (609) 492-2300 to check.
Stone Fire Grille, Beachwood
Stone Fire Grille is at 226 Atlantic City Boulevard. Its website lists American-style dishes: tapas, pizzas, burgers and wings.
The site says happy hour specials run every day and live music plays on Fridays and Saturdays. It also says catering menus can be tailored for events such as weddings and birthday parties. The directory lists online ordering as well. No hours are listed, so call (732) 341-1055 first.
GAL Mediterranean Cuisine, Toms River
GAL is a single-location restaurant at 2 Route 37. The menu centers on Turkish-style kebabs and flame-grilled dishes. Its website highlights a lamb shish kebab, a grilled shrimp kebab and a Mixed Grill, described as "flame-grilled meats with fragrant rice and fresh sides." The directory also lists branzino.
The directory lists online ordering, reservations, catering and a loyalty program. Published hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday and Sunday, and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Hours can change, so call (732) 244-6262 to confirm.
Planning around these six
Only two of the six publish hours in the directory, and a few are seasonal or shore-area businesses, so a quick phone call saves a wasted drive. If a business matters to you, the card under each section links to its full listing and its own website.
